Description
This is the Colour of the first Battalion of Guides of the Free Corps (Cuerpos Francos) of the Federal Republic, the first Spanish republic which lasted only 1873. Apart from the lettering it shows 18 five-pointed stars, distributed in the top and bottom cantons of the fly. Even though the hoist area is missing in the flag, it is very probable that the top and bottom cantons of the hoist also bore stars. Source: author's own observation of the original flag kept in the Montjuïc Military Museum (Barcelona).
